BlackBerry says 'Sorry' to customers with free Apps & Vlingo

Due to the large outrage from BlackBerry customers in Europe, The Middle East and Africa last week, RIM have responded by promising customers a variety of free apps, and even BlackBerry's 'Siri' alrernative - Vlingo (RRP $19.99/£12.62). Other free apps that will be made available free to subscribers by Wednesday this week, include the Sims 3, iSpeech Translator Pro, and Photo Editor Ultimate. Customers will also be awarded free technical support as a result of RIM's blackout.

RIM co-chief executive Mike Lazaridis commented that "We are grateful to our loyal BlackBerry customers for their patience" and that "We are taking immediate and aggressive steps to help prevent something like this from happening again."

But the question that must be asked, is whether this is all too little and too late? and have an already under-threat company, potentially lost a number of customers faith. This comes as news this week that the Royal Bank of Scotland , has begun the trial use of iPhones and iPads among senior staff. Similar trials have also begun amongst  US banks such as Citigroup and the Bank of America. Read more about that here.
